After a year where the pandemic eliminated summer school, it is back next week in an extended session.
"We're excited to be offering K-12 summer school again," said Bonnie Conley, the school district's summer school coordinator.
Most summer school programs will be in a child's regular school, but students in eight schools will be attending other schools because of construction or enrollment issues. Parents have received information about which schools their children will be attending if enrolled in summer school.
"About 9,000 signed up," Conley said. "It's good to have half the students in summer school."
The number represents about half of the student enrollment during the regular school year, she said.
