Suisun City Police Department to celebrate 100th anniversary
SUISUN CITY — The Police Department is making plans to celebrate its 100th anniversary.
The news was shared at a recent City Council meeting as well as the department’s Facebook page.
According to city records, the Suisun Board of Trustees, the body that was eventually renamed the Suisun City Council, appointed Anson Burdick as the Suisun night watchman in May 1919. The board voted in November 2021 to appoint and deputize Burdick as the Suisun town marshal, making him the first deputized law enforcement officer employed by the city.
Burdick was killed in the line of duty Sept. 1, 1927.
