All those waiting for their dates under that iconic meeting spot of Clerys’ clock on Dublin’s O’Connell Street probably had a good look in the shop’s windows as they waited for fate, and romance.
Many of the window displays were the handiwork of Eileen Delany, who had great style and ridiculously good taste in clothes. She wore a lot of John Rocha’s Chinatown range and Paul Costelloe’s Dressage range, and shopped at Brown Thomas and The Design Centre.
Eileen’s catchphrase, as she waved her daughter Helen and her best pal Brenda Aherne off when going out to play or to a disco, was “enjoy yourself”.
