OPELOUSAS — St. Landry Parish teenagers are learning about biofuels, electrolysis and other energy solutions in a way they're likely to remember, building solar panels and conducting electricity through water. And that was just Tuesday.
Middle and high school students are doing experiments like these at Shell Energy Venture Camp this week at Northwest High School. The summer program is the product of a partnership between the local school district, Shell and Central Creativity education center. It's covered through federal COVID-19 relief funding.
On the first day the group made water distillation systems and motorized handheld fans, and they mixed their own energy drink. Some were not fans of the taste.
