Teens on Guam honored the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy in the civil rights movement by discussing his milestones and their impact.
Karina Manlapaz, a former student at Academy of Our Lady of Guam who is taking a gap year, noted King entered a ministry after meeting Benjamin E. Mays, who showed him that a religious career could be valuable in expanding his knowledge with justice.
“This encounter was a great influence on King because he gained vast knowledge through his ministry by attending Crozer Theological Seminary in Chester, Pennsylvania, which led to his powerful civil rights actions,” Manlapaz said.
