Stratford council has approved a request to host the 2022 Canadian Junior Curling Championships at the Stratford Rotary Complex in partnership with the Stratford Country Club.
After discussing the country club’s request to waive ice-rental fees at the Stratford Rotary Complex between March 24 and April 1 – with a buffer of a few days for setup and takedown – council voted Monday to support that ask if the city is awarded the event.

“I’m sure we’ve been asked to host because of our great hosting that we’ve done in the past for the seniors and the juniors in previous years,” community services director David St. Louis said during Monday’s community services committee meeting. “They would require both ice pads … during the event. It’s about a 13-day period where we wouldn’t have ice (rental availability) in the Rotary Complex and some of the (normal) events at the Rotary Complex will have to be moved to other arenas.”
