A gusty, snowy storm that swept over northwest Wyoming on Tuesday wreaked havoc for a few hours, though by midday the event had largely run its course.
Between daylight and around 10:30 a.m. there was a quick succession of highway and county road closures, followed by START buses ceasing operation. Wind speeds on the top of Mount Glory held steady at nearly 40 mph, with gusts of up to 54 mph. The wind instrument at the top of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort tram was “lost” at about 7 a.m., possibly due to even higher wind speeds, according to MountainWeather.com meteorologist and News&Guide columnist Jim Woodmencey.
