Illinois State Police are investigating the fatal shooting of a suspect by a police officer in Macoupin County.
Police had gone to a home in Brighton after a man at the residence called police and made what was described as an “alarming statement” on the call. Police talked with 47-year-old James Iler for nearly an hour… and then say he charged at a Macoupin County deputy while armed with a knife.
The deputy shot Iler twice, killing him. No officers were injured.
