Deputy chief minister Bung Moktar Radin
(pic) has proposed the privatisation of water services as a long-term solution to water woes in Sabah.
Bung, who is also the State Works Minister, said this would be similar to the National Water Services Commission (SPAN) in the peninsula to oversee water and sewerage services in the state.
He was confident a water commission will boost the state’s efficiency and reduce bureaucracy in dealing with long-standing water issues in Sabah.

“We don’t have SPAN here and only the water department. With this corporatisation, we will change the image of the state’s water services.
