Start of something new: Tensions rise in episode 7 of ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’

Last week on “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” the East High Wildcats demonstrated their desire to outshine their competitors. As the opening night of East High’s production of “Beauty and the Beast” draws closer, tensions with North High have only been exacerbated, leading to dance battles and costume malfunctions that distract the Wildcats from getting their heads in the game.
The co-anchors of “The East High Morning News,” E.J. (Matt Cornett) and Gina (Sofia Wylie) open episode 7 of the second season with exciting news: Nini’s (Olivia Rodrigo) original song is quickly gaining traction on the East High drama club’s Instagram page. Though Carlos (Frankie Rodriguez) secretly recorded and posted “The Rose Song” without Nini’s permission, Nini finds confidence in the song’s popularity, much to her boyfriend, Ricky’s (Joshua Bassett) dismay, given the song’s negative implications surrounding their relationship.
