SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Sophomore Gile Bite Starkute picked a pivotal day to shoot a career low round as her 4-under score on Sunday paced the Wildcats to ninth place, safely ahead of the top-15 cut line of the third day of stroke play at the NCAA Championships. Starkute's first-ever 68 featured five birdies, one bogey and twelve pars with eight of them coming consecutively.
"I am incredibly proud of these ladies for how they overcame a tough start to the day and finished a 4-over par," said head coach Laura Ianello. "My message to our team is just to keep fighting because we all know that it's not over until its over. Gile had an incredible round today with a new career low and really set the tone for our whole team to hang tough today. It's going to feel a lot like an NCAA Regional tomorrow for the final round of stroke play as we will need to make a push to reach the top eight for match play."
