SUNRISE BEACH, Mo. â A Lake of the Ozarks area fire district needs help putting out a major fire in the district board, which has hit a stalemate due to conflicts between the two board members.
Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District (SBFPD) Fire Chief Joseph LaPlant is asking the Camden County Circuit Court to accept one of the district's board member's recent statements as grounds for removing that board member.
In a press release, Chief LaPlant reported the district board was at a standstill and unable to conduct business due to a lack of quorum. This deadlock threatens the safety and welfare of the general public, LaPlant says. According to the press release, the lack of quorum is due to Board Member Robert (Bob) Hemenâs refusal to attend board meetings. There are currently only two board members on the board, which is meant to have three members.Â
