St. Patrick Catholic School leaders Darcy Spellman, left, and Dr. Kandice Roethler were awarded advanced degrees from Drake University this month.
The credential file for the leadership of St. Patrick Catholic School got a little heavier this month when two of the schools leaders were awarded graduate degrees from Drake University.
Darcy Spellman, who teaches sixth, seventh and eighth grade religion and social studies, earned a Master of Science in Educational Leadership, and Kandice Roethler, wrapping up her third year as St. Pat’s principal, was granted a Ph.D. in Education. Both scholars studied at Drake.
“The past two years has been a whirlwind!” Spellman said after the May 15 ceremonies. “I have been given a multitude of opportunities to learn how to be the most effective school leader, meeting people I can call lifelong friends, and being a part of program with an excellent faculty that have continually helped me learn through the pandemic in the Drake EDL program! I could not have had these opportunities had it not been through my family and friends’ support.”
