Springfield firefighters battling Upper Hill house fire; 5 displaced

SPRINGFIELD - City firefighters are on the scene of a two-alarm house fire at 166 Northampton Ave. that has displaced 5 people.
Fire Department spokesman Capt. Drew Piemonte said the fire has gone through the upper floors of the 2 1/2 story wood frame, and flames were coming through the roof and attic.
The fire was reported at around 8 a.m.
By 9 a.m., the fire appeared to be knocked down and firefighters continued hosing down the building.
Northampton Avenue is in the city’s Upper Hill neighborhood. It runs between Wilbraham Road and King Street near the Springfield College athletic fields.
