Sheriff Andrew Berry received the compliments of the season from an unexpected source... a man he was about to sentence.
It happened when the sheriff read an âupbeatâ letter from Thomas Meikle, who had been caught speeding, Wick Sheriff Court heard last week.
The 38-year-old criticised himself for having committed the offence, expressed his appreciation of the manner in which police officers had dealt with it and concluded by wishing all concerned a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
