As COVID-19 cases continue to spike throughout the Upstate, the city of Spartanburg will continue requiring masks inside grocery stores and pharmacies within city limits.

“I’ve grown increasingly more concerned, anxious, worried, over these numbers,” Smith said during Monday night’s council meeting. “We are seeing the results of Thanksgiving, and we have Christmas and New Year’s coming up. (We) find ourselves in a very difficult situation with the extremely limited jurisdictional tools we have in our toolbox as a small city government.”
