Spartanburg: Coroner releases name of pedestrian hit, killed by vehicle

A man was killed Sunday as he was walking in Spartanburg, the Spartanburg County Coroner's Office confirmed on Thursday.Coroner Rusty Clevenger said Guy Dale Covington Sr., 55, was struck by a vehicle on W. O. Ezelle Boulevard near Chester Street and was pronounced dead just after 7:30 p.m. The cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head and torso, Clevenger said.The incident is being investigated by the Coroner's Office and the Spartanburg Police Department.No other information was immediately released.
