Southboro residents’ lawsuit against town officials, developer opens in Worcester Superior Court
WORCESTER — A lawsuit filed by a group of Southboro residents alleging town officials inappropriately pushed an affordable housing project through the appeals process opened last week in Worcester Superior Court.
“This case is not about typical opposition to the concept of providing affordable housing under 40B,” Daniel Pasquarello, one of the residents’ lawyers, told a judge during opening statements. “There are serious safety concerns from what is, in fact, more than just a 40B project.”
Southboro developer William Depietri has, since 2015, been looking to build on a 101-acre piece of land he bought off Route 9 west near the ramp to Interstate 495 north.
