South Heart School District #9 South Heart School Board Regular Meeting December 21, 2022 The regular meeting of the South Heart School Board was called to order by Pres. Eberts in Classroom 402 at 6:00 PM. All members present, as well as Supt. Dean, Prin. Jung, and Business Mgr. Kristine Mehrer. Meduna moved, second by Harper to approve agenda with one addition. All in favor; motion carried. Prin Jung recognized performers and advisors for a phenomenal drama production. Steffan moved, second by Kuylen to approve minutes from November 9, 2022. All in favor; motion carried. Kuylen moved, second by Harper to approve December 2022 bills and payroll and November 2022 financial reports. All in favor; motion carried. Supt. Dean reviewed personnel report: Heart River Coop Coach Hires: Dustin Honeyman, JH boys basketball ($2,020.00), Josh Wilke, JH boys basketball ($1,945.00), Jarred Wagner, Head girls basketball ($4,860.00), Andrew Klein, Asst girls basketball ($3,160.00), Lillian Kelly, Asst girls basketball ($2,660.00), Erik Klein, Head boys basketball ($4,235.00), Mathew Larson, Asst boys basketball ($3,060.00), Sara Gieseke, Asst boys basketball ($2,860.00), Kelsey Boedeker, JH girls basketball ($757.50), Alison Scheetz, JH girls basketball ($158.75). Mr. Dean reviewed Activities Director report: reviewed jh girls, hs girls, and hs boys basketball participation numbers, recapped Drama production and Christmas programs. Mr. Dean reviewed Elementary Principal report: movie field trip for elementary students Dec 21 sponsored by local Lions Club and CPASS, Grade 1-3 Christmas Concert postponed, December ELA and math benchmarks completed, recognized students of the month and October and November teachers of the month. Prin. Jung reported: semester 1 finals rescheduled due to weather, finalizing schedules for semester 2, State Student Council conference took place December 11 and 12. Supt. Dean reported: new email address for school board are active. Discussion took place regarding pledge of allegiance being said daily over the intercom. Harper moved, second by Steffan to approve second reading of amended school board policy BCAA. All in favor; motion carried. Kuylen moved, second by Meduna to approve 22-23 Billings County Tuition Agreement $61,348.10. All in favor; motion carried. Steffan moved, second by Harper to dissolve open enrollment for a child of Megan Smith to return to Dickinson. All in favor; motion carried. Steffan moved, second by Kuylen to approve purchase of JLG ES1932 Electric Scissor Life ($19,000.00) to be paid with $10,000.00 WSI grant and $9,000.00 district funds. All in favor; motion carried. Meduna reported on RACTC and SWCTE. Transportation committee and co-curricular committees will schedule meetings after holiday break. Discussion took place regarding possible days in calendar available for making up days missed due to extreme winter weather / road conditions. Decision will be made at January 11 meeting.
