Santee encourages virtual fun run
The Santee Sunset 5K is back in virtual form for 2021. Choose the 5K or the new 50K Challenge and run your own pace on whatever course you choose, whenever you can, between now and Feb. 28. Registration will support the Parks & Recreation department, and runners/walkers will be entered into a prize drawing. Visit

La Mesa hosts resource fair for older adults, caregivers
As part of the Livable La Mesa Age Friendly project, the La Mesa Community Relations and Veterans Commission hosts a free virtual resource fair at 6 p.m. Wednesday for older adults, their families and caregivers. The 90-minute event will encourage dialogue on the effects of COVID-19 on the daily lives of older adults. Experts from the county’s Health and Human Services Agency, Oasis and the county library will be on hand to offer tips and tools as well as resources including food access, transportation, fitness, technology, mental health and fighting social isolation.
