The South Dakota Department of Health reported 45 new COVID-19 infections and two deaths Friday, as the state passed a milestone in coronavirus vaccinations.
More than 400,000 adults in the state have received at least one dose of vaccine, according to the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. That equals about 60% of the state's adult population.
Both of the latest deaths were among people aged 70-79. One was a woman and one a man. They brought the statewide total to 1,991.
New cases included eight in Minnehaha County and three in Lincoln County. Brown County also had three, while Codington County had two. The state also reported nine new positive results among people in long-term care. A total of 123,644 people in the state have tested positive.
