South Dakota Budget Proposes New Regional I/DD Crisis Diversion Centers
The South Dakota Governor’s budget includes a proposal from the Department of Human Services (DHS) to create new small-scale privately run regional crisis diversion centers for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). The centers would be established in Sioux Falls and Rapid City. A key goal is to reduce admissions and the census at the state-run South Dakota Developmental Center (SDDC).
