A sleepy industrial lot on Madison Street, in downtown Rockford, IL is about to be transformed into the center of an immersive and unforgettable multi-media exploration of new frontiers in public art. <br/><br/>SOMNIUM: The book of Dreams and Nightmares, the psychedelic invention of Domincan-based visual artist, Eddaviel Montero, and Rockford-based artist, Emily Klonicki, combines traditional public mural art with new media, music, animation, and dance into a three-dimensional performative production that transforms the way the public interacts with and experiences community and public arts. <br/><br/>Presented by the publisher Mentes Extremófilas and sponsored by The Rockford Area Arts Council, SOMNIUM combines an unprecedented cadre of talent and collaboration from across the globe: Jason Judd and Iga Puchalska (Rockford, IL–Projection and Animation), Raymond Jaquez (Santo Domingo, DR–Music and Voice Narration), Bill Houtkamp (Rockford, IL–Sound and Projection Tech) Odilius Vlak (Santo Domingo, DR– Narration) Gretchen Stark (Rockford, IL–Choreography) and Ella Lakey (Milwaukee, WI– Choreography), Zach Stephens (Rockford, IL–Poi, Flow Choreography), Alize Jireh (Fox River Grove, IL– Photography and Videography)<br/><br/>Performances happen on Fridays and Saturdays at both 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. from September 30 to October 15, 2022.
