The first draft of the new Nebraska health education standards delves into topics never taught in Nebraska schools before.
"It means we provide that culturally responsive inclusive curriculum that understands the impact of racism, sexism, homophobia and transphobia, that is all critical," said Lisa Schulze with the Women's Fund of Omaha.Sign up for our Newsletters
The organization hosted a Zoom meeting Thursday with educators, parents and advocates for the proposed health standards.
The proposed curriculum under human growth and development covers not only physical but mental health and gender identity.
