Sometime before 8 a.m. on Dec. 15, a health care worker asked Elizabeth Cote if she was ready.
“I’m ready,” she replied, as the clicking of news cameras filled the room. The health care worker then jabbed the shot into Cote’s arm.
The Bayhealth nurse let out a sigh of relief. In that moment, Cote became the first Delawarean and first health care worker to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
Yet, more than two months later, it's unclear how many have followed her. State officials have received anecdotal reports that some health care workers have been hesitant to receive the shot.
