SOMA Global Gets $22.5M Investment for Public Safety Tech
The latest of several public safety tech companies to receive multimillion-dollar investments in recent months, the Tampa, Fla.-based cloud software provider is focused on growth and product development.
The public safety software company SOMA Global has received a $22.5 million investment from Weatherford Capital, becoming at least the third technology provider for U.S. law enforcement in the past eight months to receive an investment of more than $20 million.
The investment was made public via news release today from Weatherford Capital, a Tampa, Fla.-based private firm founded in 2015 and a previous investor in gov tech companies. In May 2019, it committed $25 million to PayIt, which makes software to accommodate digital payments for government services; and in September 2019 it was a lead investor in a $51 million financing round for the cloud software company OpenGov, the largest funding round for that company to date.
