Conference championship games are just what Richmond does.
For the seventh-straight year, the Spiders are in their conference championship game — all six years of the SoCon’s existence and one year as the Atlantic Sun.
Top-seeded Richmond handled No. 4 seed Air Force, 11-6, inside Robins Stadium on Wednesday. They’ll host Friday against High Point for a shot at three-straight championships and NCAA berths.
So for a Spider team coming off a 9-8 loss to the Falcons four days ago, it felt pretty much in the bag in terms of who’d advance.
It was led by defense, with Richmond forcing 13 turnovers, led by Sean Menges’ three to go along with four groundballs. When Air Force did have a chance, Jack Rusbuldt gobbled it up 12 times.
