The heavy snow bands are leaving Berks County and, from south to north, snowfall is changing to a light mix of sleet and freezing rain as what meteorologists call a dry slot has entered the region.
According to the National Weather Service office in Mount Holly, N.J., at 7 p.m.: "This should lead to precipitation rates falling off significantly or precipitation ending completely. ⦠Banding will produce local variations in totals. ⦠Late tonight as the low starts to pull away, a final wrap-around band of precipitation may bring some additional snow to many areas."
Snow piled up across Berks and southeastern Pennsylvania with rates of up to 2 inches an hour from 3 to 6 p.m.
