Moses Maimonides was a profoundly influential 12th century Jewish theologian. His views on tzedakah are still studied today. Tzedakah (pronounced “seh duh kuh”) is often translated from Hebrew as “charity”, but the concept is linguistically and morally better translated as “righteousness”.
