What do about 95 percent of Tennessee's businesses have in common? They employ 50 or fewer employees. You might even own, or work for, one of these businesses.
Small businesses are truly the backbone of our state's economy and have an incalculable impact on our communities. Unfortunately, many of these businesses are the ones hurting the most right now.
To assist these types of businesses, and further enhance our stateâs business-friendly reputation, the Tennessee General Assembly created the Office of the Small Business Advocate in 2010. I took over the position of small business advocate a little over two years ago.
As the name suggests, my job is to assist small business owners with needs they may have related to state government.
