U.K. hip hop artist slowthai released his second studio album âTYRON,â on Feb. 12, a double-sided record detailing the 26-year-old rapperâs dealings with drugs and violence, while giving insight into his imbalance of emotions.
Slowthai, born Tyron Frampton, upped his ambition and experimentation exponentially on âTYRONâ compared to his 2019 breakout debut âNothing Great About Britain.â While his debut record had an unrelenting, punk-like energy toward British politics which channeled throughout the entire album, slowthaiâs follow-up presents a more varied approach, both sonically and topically.
Double album âTYRONâ is 14 tracks long, split up into two 7-song sides. The first side is similar to his previous work, consisting of one trap banger after another. Unfortunately, it is also the albumâs weaker side â where a lack of structure within the songs leaves one scratching their head.
