SISD names internal auditor Marta Carmona as interim superintendent

The Socorro Independent School Board has chosen its internal auditor, Marta Carmona, to serve as interim superintendent of the district.
Trustees entered into a closed executive session at a special board meeting Tuesday night to discuss "various candidates" and ultimately authorized Morales to discuss terms of employment and make an offer to Carmona to fill the role.
The final approval of the agreement will go before the board at a subsequent meeting.
The SISD board first discussed the topic at a May 18 board meeting in which the board unanimously approved having new board President David Morales reach out to a short list of candidates, interview them and gauge their interest, before bringing information about the interested parties to the board.
