Sir Roy Calne, surgeon and authority on immunosuppression who carried out Europe's first liver transplant – obituary

Professor Sir Roy Calne, who has died aged 93, carried out Europe’s first liver transplant and made important contributions to the development of immunosuppressive drugs, notably the cyclosporines, which prevent organ rejection and have transformed transplantation into a major branch of surgery.
