Speaking with Gamespot, DICE General Manager Patrick Bach noted that while DICE has been under pressure to get the game out in time with the new film, that wasn’t the reason why a single player component isn’t present in the game, he stated “To be honest, single-player was never in the plan. It was never the concept.”
DICE has a history littered with great multiplayer pedigree – though recently it can be argued they’ve not met their own high standard – by Bach’s own admission, the single player experiences haven’t been quite as good as the multiplayer, “It’s not as though we haven’t done single-player before”, he continues, “our single-player has not been as strong as our multiplayer”.
