Long before the days of headlining performances and world tours as part of pop girl group Fifth Harmony, Ally Brooke found her voice by singing Tejano hits.
The San Antonio native credited Tejano superstars as her early musical influences during a virtual appearance at the San Antonio Book Festival last Friday to promote her book “Finding Your Harmony.” While the singer, whose full name is Allyson Brooke Hernandez, has previously noted Selena, the Queen of Tejano, as an idol of hers growing up, she took her Alamo City appearance to note Shelly Lares, the late Emilio Navaira, and Elida Reyna as other key musical figures.
