Silver woman celebrates 100 years

Lifelong Silver City resident Nellie Baca-Leyba (seated) celebrated her 100th birthday Saturday. Lifelong Silver City resident Manuela Baca-Leyba celebrated her 100th birthday Saturday with help from dozens of participants in a socially distanced drive-by parade which included Silver City firetrucks, vintage automobiles and several lowriders.
On Sunday, Mariachi Plata de Western New Mexico University was enlisted by Baca-Leyba’s friend, Juanita Escobedo, to serenade the centenarian with songs of belated
