Floods in Sikkim: The 7,000-odd tourists-3,000 among them from Bengal-who were stuck in Sikkim following the Teesta's flash flood in Lachen Valley early on Wednesday, were safe and getting help from the Indian Army and local administration, Sikkim government said on Thursday. Weather permitting, evacuation of tourists is likely to start from Friday. With the administration hoping to fly North Sikkim tourists down to Gangtok on Friday, from where they will be sent to the plains by roads, transporters have started queueing up at petrol pumps.
