Intel a réembauché Shlomit Weiss, qui a travaillé au sein de la structure pendant 28 ans, au poste de vice-président principal et codirecteur général du groupe d'ingénierie de conception (DEG) d'Intel, un poste récemment laissé vacant par Uri Frank, qui a quitté pour diriger le développement du SoC de Google. Weiss a contribué au développement de son architecture dual-core, pour laquelle elle a remporté le prix le plus prestigieux de l’entreprise (l’Intel Achievement Award), mais n'est pas répertoriée comme Intel Fellow. Elle a ensuite dirigé l’équipe qui a développé les processeurs Sandy Bridge et Skylake. L’architecture Skylake couvrait les processeurs Intel Core de sixième à 10e génération et plusieurs générations de puces de serveur.
