COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, there have been 137 inmates within the Muscogee County Jail who have tested positive for the virus, according to the Muscogee County sheriff.
As of Monday, there are two inmates with COVID-19 out of the current 926 inmates. Current procedures mandate that when a new inmate is booked in, all must be quarantined for 10 days until they are put into general population.
Sheriff Greg Countryman said since being appointed, it has been his objective to try and keep the case count as low as possible within the jail to avoid any outbreaks.
