Sheriff's Office upgrades missing Denton teen to AMBER Alert

The alert for a missing teen in Denton has been upgraded to an Amber Alert because of her age, not because she was taken against her will, according to authorities.
A statewide AMBER alert was issued on Monday evening stating officials were looking for a person of interest in connection with the disappearance of Savannah Grace Childress, 14, who was last seen on Thursday at 1164 Canaan Church Rd in Denton.
Davidson County Sheriff Richie Simmons stated the AMBER Alert was issued due to the teen's age, not because officers believe she was abducted. He also said the person named in the broadcast alert has not been confirmed to be involved in the incident.
