Thursday’s incident was reported just before 11:30 a.m. in the 2000 block of Atlantic Avenue in Daytona Beach Shores, Malphurs said.
The woman was in 4 feet of water when the shark, which was not seen, bit her in the right foot. The cuts on her foot were not life-threatening, Malphurs said.
The Oregon woman left the beach in her own vehicle but beach officials do not know if she went to the hospital, Malphurs said.
The first shark bite of 2021 came a little more than a month later than the first bites in 2020, which were March 22. Two people were bitten on that day, two hours apart.
