CM Uddhav Thackeray
An administrator par excellence, Sharad Pawar quietly wrote to chief minister Uddhav Thackeray to express concern over a large number of vacant posts in the bureaucracy. While several bureaucrats have been holding additional charge of key departments, several officers were kept waiting for long.
After being relieved of his post as GST commissioner, additional chief secretary Rajeev Jalota had to wait a year. He was appointed in the higher and technical education department for a brief period. He then took up central deputation and was appointed to head the Mumbai Port Trust. Others include additional chief secretary Rajesh Kumar, Bhushan Gagrani and former MD of Metro, Ashwini Bhide, who were kept waiting from one to three months. They have been adjusted in the rural, urban development departments and BMC respectively.
