Shahjahan's 366th Urs begins in Agra
History tells us that Emperor Shah Jahan loved his wife, Mumtaz Mahal, dearly. The Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, is the symbol of the emperor’s love that he built after her death.
The Taj Mahal houses Mumtaz Mahal’s tomb and Shah Jahan was interred alongside his wife. Every year the ‘Urs’ of the emperor is held at the historical location, in line with the Supreme Court’s permission. The Urs commemorates the death anniversary of the Mughal emperor.
