REGINA --
The Saskatchewan Health Authority reported a twelfth person has died after testing positive for COVID-19 at Regina’s Extendicare Parkside.
The resident passed away on Wednesday.
Fifty-eight staff and 141 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 at the centre. There are 162 residents in total at Extendicare Parkside.
During Thursday's legislative session, the NDP called on the Government of Saskatchewan to talk to the federal government about calling in the military to assist in the situation at Extendicare Parkside.
"There's nothing stopping this situation from unfolding in other care homes across the province," NDP MLA, Matt Love said. "Will the minister reconsider engaging with the federal minister on the issue of military aid so support is at least available when we need it?"
