Vice president sanchez thank you for your commitment to the program. I can attest to your handson when i was principal at cleveland, you came to the school. Toward the end of your presentation you talked about lowincome families. Can you go into that . Does that mean there is going to be more of an initial deposit for those families . Well still describing what the incentives are going to look like. Were still trying to figure out how to get the data we need and distribute them as a equity measure. Were still working and having conversations with the School Districts about what we can do moving forward. There is funding we might be able to place into the students. So we initiated for this year in our student formula that we were going to support more students who reside in Public Housing. So i think if you havent already gone down that road, i think that would be worth while endeavor to see if the students who reside in Public Housing merit having an extra amount deposited into their accounts. As well as were looking at supporting at a higher rate, our homeless students. And foster students. Foster students as well as families of students whose parent of guardian is incarcerated. Those are the families most in need and im hoping you can look at that families to prioritize. We appreciate the ideas and input. One they think i want to emphasize is the benefit from the Program Comes from getting the families to engage with the account. So while we can put maybe another 50 or even 100 more into the account, the way that it translates into aspirations for the child is the family going together and making deposits. I wonder if maybe we could figure out ways we could maybe supply the deposit funds, but then help the families go and make the deposits themselves . Yes. I think we ought to have maybe the office help out in this regard. The families that are least likely to be able to, for one reason or another, to engage in this are have the children of the students that need it the most, right . Well, and thats why maybe taking deposits in the schoolyard, to the public speaker, just giving more access to the way deposits are made might be a way do that as well. Ms. Lopez hi, thank you for presenting. That was actually my question along the lines of Financial Literacy and if you offer classes in that area, or what that looks like. Because there are a number of organizations in the city already who do that for families. So if there is a way to partner with them or keep building on the work that has already been done with parent liaisons. Yes, some of our partners are already presenting something. Parents for Public Schools is doing something. Well be working with them. We offer adult field trips, taking them, showing them to how to make a deposit, what does that mean. Were trying to work with partners. The children, Financial Literacy, weve been counseling with post secondary success. We have created a resource guide for kindergarten to 8th grade. We had it for k5 two years ago and this summer just created the growth to 8th grade. So there are financial lessons that the schools can provide also. Theyre available to all the counselors, so all the 8th middle School Councillors know about it. And the kit was sent to all k5 Elementary Schools. Ms. Lopez one last thing around the outreach. It seems like you have a high number of participants, but even as a teacher in the district, i hadnt heard of this program until later. It could be im a fourth grade teacher, im far removed from kindergarten we need your help. Please help us get the word out. Every year we send a letter home in the weekly the wednesday envelope or whatever version. We send the letter home to every kindergartners parents so they learn about the accounts. We do that through the school, so theoretically, every Elementary School principal and every teacher of the kindergartner knows that. And we also send letters through the same packages to all the account holders throughout the year. We send home a statement of their balances in the program. Unfortunately, still, the majority of families have not started to safe. Weve tried to find out how to reach them. In fact, weve asked parents, who would you listen to if they sent you a reminder message. I promise you they werent ready to listen to the treasurer. They didnt want to listen to the city treasurer about a reminder. They werent that interested in hearing from the mayor, as much as i love the mayor. They said who they listen to the most is their childs teacher. They said if my childs teacher tells me to do something, i do it. And the next was the school principal. Im asking if we can get more teachers and principals and school staff to be talking about the program. At this point everyone in the School District through 9th grade has an account. Every single child through 9th grade. Next year it will be through 10th grade and so on. Were close to every kid in the district having an account, unfortunately, the majority of them havent started saving yet. Were asking for every school to identify a k2c ambassador to be a liaison to the program, give them updates, let them know the packages are coming. By the end of next monday, all the k to 9 students will get the envelope. If theyre new students, theyll get a welcome kit. If theyre existing student, theyll get an activity statement. So every teacher should be handing out an envelope specific to those students. President cook commissioner ma liga. Mr. Moliga i learned about this program last year. And i know a lot of kids who are, like, opportunities for programs last summer, my son. And kids didnt even know they had Bank Accounts. So just like a little bit of clarity. Are these can these kids use them when they have employment through the city and can they deposit into these accounts . These accounts are strictly College Savings accounts. We define it clearly in the Program Information we send out to the new account holders. All deposits on these accounts are oneway deposits. The money stays there until the child well, finishes high school. And is ready to use it for any postsecondary education. Trade school, college, books, computers, whatever it takes for them to be successful Post High School is what this money is meant to be there for. Its not everyday savings accounts. We do have other programs. We partner with the Mayors Office on summer jobs for youth. You might be familiar with, the city does a lot of getting 16, 17 and 18 and 19 and 20yearolds connected to summer jobs or yearround jobs often times for people that age. We work with those new job paycheck receivers to make sure they have have Bank Accounts to put their checks into. Its meant to connect anybody in the city to a bank account, Checking Account or savings account, if thats what they need. And we even have banks and Credit Unions that will open them noncustodial for 16 and 17yearolds. My follow up and last question, what happens to the funding if the kids dont use it after . Excellent question. So we put the money in there and both the family money that is deposited and our money, and the incentives we offer if they make a deposit, we put another 10 into the account just to reward them for making a deposit. All that goes there and stays there for educational purpose after high school. When the account holder turns 25, any of the family money theyve not used for educational purpose, we give to the 25yearold. Its their money, its not our money. So they do always get their money back. The money we put in, the 50 and the incentive payments, they were there to support education, so if they dont have an educational need to use it for, well use it for some other student educational needs. About you believe me but believe me the family and the account holders will always get their money. I just had a question, i have five 9th graders. I dont think ive ever received a letter. I worked in central office. I know the communication piece, there is a disconnect. Should i have been receiving these i mean, my kids were theyre 9th graders now, so at the beginning of the program maybe things were different. But over the last three or four years, should i have been receiving communication . The kids now in 9th grade that was the first year of the program. It was a pilot year and we only opened up accounts for 25 of the kids that year. So, unfortunately, your kids may have been one of the three quarters that didnt get accounts that year. Were rounding out the first two years which were partial account years. If they didnt have an account before this year, theyre going to get one. My question is, im wanting to close the loop. Some schools are good at sharing information that is given to them and some arent as good. Im wondering how we know youre giving them out, what is the feedback loop . I dont know if you can answer that question, but if families dont receive the information, it gets communicated differently at different sites. I agree. Because were not sure. We distribute it to the School District and the School District distributes its to the school. If it gets to the student, it will be hard to track. Your children probably my kids went to jean parker. Probably not. The grade after yours started. So they were in the second year pilot. Parker was second year pilot, not the first year. This fall, which is next month, youll get a welcome packet. Were opening accounts right now for the 9th graders, so youll get the package next month. But we dont have a good feedback loops other than schools that may return some because a student moved away. But thats the only way we know if someone didnt get it. I would ask if there is a way that the staff, once theyve gone out, like if we can wait a certain period of time, maybe we can send messages to families or post on the website so that if there is families because if you dont know, you dont know. So if there is a family that sees it and says, wait, i didnt get that, maybe my kid was sick or whatever, then theyd know. If there is information where folks can follow up to find out. And we know that some schools in the early years did robocalls to let the families know these were coming home. We would love ideas making sure the package reaches them. If somebody doesnt get their packet, we can baget the information. Ms. Lopez i have actually now started thinking about the information that youre gathering from students. One of the things that makes it really hard for people to open a bank account is providing their Social Security information and things, what do you gather from the students . We dont gather anything from the students or the families, we open the account with the name, the home address, date of birth and name of parent. So maybe sharing that, too, so people feel safer in pursuing this. Sure. We dont gather anything else other than that. And it all stays with us absolutely. Absolutely confidential. President cook that would be a great way for me to defer to you. Ms. Norton im sorry, i was late to the meeting but listened on the radio and i heard your presentation. I want to come on a field trip. It sounds adorable. Can we please sign everybody up for the field trip . Tell me when the next one is, i want to go. [applause] we need adult chaperones. We need if you watch the pbs news hour video, we put a step stool in front of the bank teller window because the 5yearolds cant peer over the counter. But when they get to the teller window, they dont know what to do. I stand there and say, this is linda, shes the teller, now say id like to make a deposit. Id like to make a deposit. To my College Savings account. To my that could be you. You could be coaching 25yearolds way better than what i do all day. Nothing better in the world. They get a tour of the bank vaul. They havent let me in, but the 5yearolds have. I was hearing some of the statistics in the presentation on the way over here and its really wonder to feel see how the program is such a success. Im convinced were the first College Savings program in the country that has truly found a way to have lowincome families save for college. Again, it doesnt matter if they save a lot or a little, its about building aspirations. Their kids are going to grow up with the same opportunities every other kid has and that what we want. President cook thank you for the presentation. One of the reasons i wanted you to present on the topic, there is a lot of people that dont know about the program. We often have these benefits to our community that arent well communicated to the rest of the city. So there are a lot of opportunities for partnership. And one of the things i just wanted to elevate was however were doing the communication now is we need to rethink how we do it. So these mass messages that go out, these flyer things that go out, if we want people to know the resource is available, we need to you to come back on an annual basis. People get the letter and say i never signed up for a savings account. Or they may see the money and need it. And they think, oh, you know. So i know there is a scenario where they cant access the money if there is an emergency. There is. Can you swing that . We make it clear these are College Savings accounts, and the money is intended for the college education, but in a few instances weve been approached by families who said they had a dire financial emergency. And while their best intention was to put the money way for the longterm, they have a financial emergency and we of course accommodate the families in that situation. President cook okay. So i want to start the conversation and hopefully we can find more ways to work on this together and thank you for the presentation. Thank you. Im sorry. Commissioner . Sorry, two comments. Treasurer is being humble in the sense that the product, or the Savings Account Program that has been developed really had in mind equity and lowincome students and the protection of confidentiality and undocumented students and their families. I wanted to thank you for your work. I wanted to follow up to commissioner colins suggestion, as weve been talking about the effectiveness of tech integration, that might be an opportunity, too, because that can get information to our families. And again, as we further adapt technology and really getting our families to use the Technology Communications vehicle, i think that would be an opportunity working with our chief of i. T. , with melissa. And then lastly, i wanted to ask about ive seen the letters and ive been receiving my letters since kindergarten and what the outreach is like, besides translation, you offer letters in multilanguages, but what is the outreach to English Limited families . Good question. We dont have a plan yet. Wed like to work with the district on how to best reach those families. Maybe we can have that be part of the package as you think about equity, because English Learners with l. A. P. Or mono lingual parents or guardians are part of the equity frame. Thank you. I would like to personally say i would be thrilled and honored to come back on an annual basis to give you more information, updates on the program, but honestly to encourage more creative ideas, because i got to tell you, the overwhelming amount of the success weve had has been because of the partnership and our strong partners in the School District from individual Classroom Teachers to specific principals who have been heroes around this program. To many other Staff Members in the district, as well as many parents themselves and other types of partner organizations. So our success is very much in your hands. My name is Tammy Davidson and i work for the state special schools counseling school for the deaf. I am responsible for the contracts that we contract to bus drivers for our residential students. Also school fort blind contract as well. Im here in support of the School Bus Drivers and maintaining them. Most recent ive had to get creative with our contract language. And maintaining School Bus Drivers. I dont feel they should be compromised in no shape or fashion. Ive contacted the department of education transportation to the highest level on my concern that the Rideshare Companies that are being compromised for School Bus Drivers. The department of education transportation top of the line asking me, who are hiring these people . Am i sure that the parents arent setting these Rideshare Companies up . How are the drivers verified . Who is monitoring the drug testing . The background checks, so forth. Im here to tell you that on a daily basis, im regulating rideshare drivers on every aspect of transporting kids with exceptional needs. And i am asking you not to compromise students with special needs for Rideshare Companies. [applause] also want to bring to your attention president cook that was your time. Thank you. Good evening. My name is gail flynn. Im San Francisco state Certified School bus instructor, driver and parent of special needs. Im here representing all of our School Bus Drivers and Union Members here to support us. We are pleading with you to not allow this proposal to go through. To allow these nonconforming vans to transport our children. As a state certified instructor i want to show you briefly what it takes to get this driver through the process. Its a threemonth training process to get a driver through. They have to receive 20hour minimum classroom training out of the manual. Then another 20hour minimum training in a behind the wheel manual. So its a minimum of 40 hours of training. We produce the highest highly trained california School Bus Drivers in the state. [applause] we are overseen by three agencies who are overseen by the department of education, the California Department of Highway Patrol and the d. M. V. I would like to read a letter from our School Safety coordinator, Elaine Michaels, who tests all of our drivers. She wasnt able to be here tonight. She says respectfully, council members, its been brought to my attention that the city of San Francisco is considering lowering their high standards regarding transporting children in school buseses. They say they can transport in vehicles not defined as a bus. The state of california takes pride in the efforts in safely transporting students. It was decided that the monitor oversee the Busing Program for all companies transporting students. They assisted the d. M. V. With testing drivers, along with handling all accidents. So there is consistent reporting, related to the School Bussing issues. President cook thank you. Im finishing the c. H. P. Coordinators statement. President cook just state your name. Im shane hoff. Any time an incident needs to be addressed, those incidents are reviewed by experts in the field and new rules, regulations and codes are changed, modified for created to ensure that all School Bus Drivers are notified, trained and proficient in the responsibilities. C. H. P. Continues to evolve in their responsibilities along with the California Department of education, the d. M. V. And motor carrier ensuring that the buses meet title 13 code of regulations. Using what seems to be for kids is definitely a serious step backwards and jeopardizes student safety which means your child could be adversely affected by drivers who are not trained to transport students, especially those students with special needs. In addition, school buses have strict safety codes. Vehicles not defined as a school bus are not required to do so and therefore Law Enforcement is not required to be notified. [inaudible] there will not be any consistency to eliminate potential hazard and unsafe practices. There are many facts that the School Bus Industry are implied because your child sees a school bus painted yellow, that consistency demands that safety is a priority. All the agencies that have a hand in safe transportation of your child take their responsibilities very seriously. And i would hate to see a student hurt because youre trying to save money shortterm and not looking at the longterm effects. [cheers and applause] please reconsider your stance. It has taken many years to get to this point. And all the agencies president cook thank you, that was your time. For the speakers coming up, try not to muffle the mic. I am chairman of local 41, the San Francisco union. That transports all these kids every day. You never get a report of fatality or injury. We do this day in and day out. I want to tell you my history. I immigrated here when i was 4 years old. I was bused from the mission. I went to douglas elementary which now is harvey milk. So i got to see different members of the community. Its made me the individual that i am. And this is my proud family right next to me. We support each other and we make you guys look good. We need your help in not undermining the California Department of motor vehicles, the Highway Patrol and the department of ed. We need your support. Do not please do not undermine and have children transported in nonconforming vehicles. Youll be undermining recommendation from the National Traffic highway administration. Theyre alarmed this is happening in School Districts across the nation are taking advantage of loopholes. That that is their prerogative, but it is not meant for School Districts to hire contractors to start transporting home to school and back. It is unsafe. You will be undermining 22112. That is the red light law. We see close calls all the time. Even in the school bus. Even though people respect our vehicles. Imagine the moment you start putting children in vehicles that arent recognized to have children in them. Thank you. President cook i did call a number of names. Im not going to repeat the names, so if you heard your name called. It would be helpful or im going to move onto the next cards. All right. Im jennifer sergeant. A mother, School Bus Driver and mother of a special needs child as well. Ive been doing School Bus Driving and these are my concerns if we use uber drivers. When you have children in cars like that, you need to have booster seats. They need to be 8yearold and 49. When they use the boosters are they going to keep the boosters in the cars, or are they taking them in and out . Where are they going to store the booster seats . Are they going to put them in the back of the van, in the back of the car . Are they latched correctly into the seat when the kid gets in and out of the seat, are they going by the height . I dont see them when they put the kids in, i dont see them telling them get out. Youre too high. I hate speaking in front of people. Every morning i go and do a trip as a School Bus Drivers and make sure all my lights are working. When is the last time you went out into your own personal cars and made sure your lights are working. Maybe nobody else does. Also, and i know my brakes in and out. I do a brake test. Also, the hatches in those cars i have a minivan. And my kids want to open the doors and roll up the down the windows, thats okay. When youre driving a school bus, you dont want kids to have the power. What happens when you hit the child safety and something happens to that driver . What happens when they have a severe accident and they cant get in . What happens when emt comes . Theyre going to have to go in the jaws of life and save the kids life. There are no emergency hatches. Got it . Okay. Good evening, everybody. My name is lara. And i started driving a school bus in 1985 when i was 24. I know to some people i am just the bus driver, but i know the peace of mind when a parent knows they have a good reliable bus driver and im better now than when i started. All my experience is a good thing. Its not getting easier driving here in San Francisco. I like this job. Im grateful for it. It allows me to support my family. What im having a problem with is the idea that the School District and the contractor that i work for are considering transporting students in vehicles other than school buses. Why would a world class city, and a company that repeatedly tells us, if its not safe, dont do it, go backwards, go backwards in student safety . I realize that there is a driver shortage. And that school buses are expensive, but this is not the answer. This group of drivers has hundreds of years of experience driving San Franciscos children. This matters. We Work Together to get all the children to school when were short. Were the part of the team that gets your child safely to school so they can learn and we return them home. Please dont try to break us up by splitting the contract into three pieces. Or by bringing in nonschool bus vehicles. This wont make our service any better. I dont want to show up at a childs house in a vehicle i know isnt as safe. Nor do i want to spend eight hours a day in one of those. Who would have to choose which children are to be less safe . Do the parents in our district realize what is being considered . Its a really bad idea, please dont do this. Thank you. [cheers and applause] am i on . Good evening, commissioners. My name is jim. Im a proud School Bus Driver. Many of the drivers have spoken to you about the safety concerns with drivers plans with the districts plans to use regular vans for School Transportation, sacrificing safety to save money of the workforce has not guaranteed our wages and benefits and well be paid far less. Possibly nonlivable wages and will be nonunion if the lowest cost workers are sought out. Weve been transporting School Children over 40 years, we know and care for the families we serve and watched many of their children grow up. The splitting of our contract and union family is hurtful and not in the best interests of the children, of the families and the district. The splitting up also sets the stage for reducing school buses and using more standard vehicles, thereby bypassing all the regulations. It pits our workforce against the other workforces who will be nonunion, lower paid, or miscategorized exploited independent contractors. The district is already contracting with rideshare. Rideshare drivers are not allowed to form unions. They have to pay for repairs of their own vehicles. And they do not receive the protections and benefits that regular employees have, including wage guarantees. This is a race to the bottom. I urge you to reconsider the division of the transportation contract and to respect our workforce. Thank you. [cheers and applause] good evening. My name is sherry klein. Ive been transporting students for almost 16 years. I was also born and raised in San Francisco. We understand that School People transportation is expensive. Why . Because were transporting the most precious cargo in the world, our children. They are priceless. Over the past few weeks we have been educating the board about transporting our school by school buses, instead of those without endorsements in nonconforming white vans. One of our leaders said its unfortunate we live in a society that is not proactive, but reactive. We hope the school bus of s. F. U. S. D. Will be proactive. Do not split up our contracts. And adding 10 nonconforming white vans. Regular and special ed drivers always help each other. Overbooking, emergency situations. Sometimes emergency situations our driver responds faster than sfbpd. Another reason we dont want you to split our contract, its union busting. Im asking you, dont break our union. We have been proudly serving for almost 50 years. Lastly, you have two people running our Transportation Department that have zero experience in transportation. Which is why they are making these bad decisions by splitting the contract, threatening to hire with untrained drivers from c. H. P. , the department of transportation, department of justice, c. D. E. And safety motor carrier. These drivers have no accountability to these agencies as we do. If you allow these contract if you allow this contract bid when something does go wrong, it will not only be liability, but you guys may be personally liable if something does go wrong. Thank you so much. [applause] good evening, commissioners. Im meg and ive been driving sfusd children in a Yellow School bus for the last 34 years. Last time i spoke about the high cost of the equipment and audio video cameras that the district wants to place on all buses. This time i would like to speak about the districts decision to divide part of the transportation contract to potentially utilize standard vans for home to School Transportation instead of using school buses. The School Bus Industry is entirely based on safety down to the color of the yellow bus which was chosen after studies showed it had the highest visibility in lowlight conditions. All the laws, regulations, multiple agency oversight, extensive vehicle inspections, Driver Monitoring and training are put in place to ensure that school buses and those who drive them provide the safest transportation to School Children. And the system works well. When the district proposes to use vans, the extensive safety oversight regulations and legal requirements for school buses and School Bus Drivers are thrown out the window and do not apply. A standard Passenger Van cannot legally stop traffic so that cars wait for children to board. A standard Passenger Van is not recognized as a vehicle transporting small children and extra care should be taken. A Standard Driver has nowhere near the level of training and continuing scrutiny that a certified School Bus Driver has. The initial transportation requests for proposals stated that certified School Bus Drivers were to be required for van transportation. After potential bidders objected, the Transportation Department removed this requirement. I feel the use of these vans will set a dangerous precedent especially if the use of the vehicles continues to increase in place of school buses. President cook thank you. [applause] good evening, commissioners. Are the children well . [laughter] i have something to tell you about. I was driving 79passenger bus to School Loading zone. There was a bus in front of the loading zone president cook you want to share your name . Paul stein, ive been a driver since 1971. This was in the 70s. And the driver of the car, the mother was dropping her daughter off and as i approached, i guess she felt rushed so the daughter got out, closed the door and she took off. Not realizing that her daughters coat was caught in the door and it dragged her off her feet, onto the ground. And i saw this coming and i hit my air horn and my electric horn, which made a lot of noise and she stopped immediately. Before i can do anything, the mother was looking around. If she had six mirrors that i have on my bus, she would have seen her daughter lying on the ground. If she had the training i had, she would have known she should wait until the child was out of the danger zone, 12 feet away. They dont have the training that we do. So the mother stepped on the gas and took off. And i sat there wondering what kind of nightmare i was about to witness. Maybe through the intervention of god or something, the coat tore loose and the mother left not knowing that her daughter was lying on the ground, unharmed, fortunately. So when you make a decision about student safety and transportation, you have to know that the drivers here in this room are trained on how to keep the kids safe. And they do that and nobody hears about it, because its not news when the kids are safe. And were driving a bus that is designed from the ground up to keep kids safe. And those vehicles that individuals drive in zoom, uber, the white commercial vans are not. Thank you for listening. [applause] president cook alita fisher. Leslie. Yes, hi. Good evening. My name is im a 12th grader at the school of the arts and Student Advisory Council representative as well as the chair for the Public Health committee. This is meagan law our treasurer. My name is alita fisher and im the most recent past chair of the Community Advisory committee for special education. Im also the parent of an 18yearold who got her drivers license less than two weeks ago. Highway safety is a little more forefront for me than it was a few weeks ago. As weve been hearing this year, transportation budget has increased by 38 since 2014. Weve added 27 buses to the routes in the past five years. And thats had a big impact. Traffic has had a huge impact. At the beginning of the school year, we had a shortage between 2025 im not sure how many drivers, but 2025 bus routes that were unable to be covered. The c. A. C. , were hearing anecdotally from our families that routes this year are increasing and students are picked up half an hour to hour earlier to accommodate traffic and ridership on existing buses. This is having impact. Having said all that, me, as a parent, i expect my teachers of my children to be highly qualified and credentialed in the subject matter fields and i fully expect that to beginning of the day when theyre picked up at the door. There is a tension of not having enough drivers and getting students to school. And our environment. And any number of additional challenges that we have to face. There is no driver input about how these routes are sometimes they dont make any sense. And they dont take our comments into improving the route. And then they want to spend how much, like a Million Dollars on routing software . Its like why cant drivers have input on how the routes run and they wouldnt be stretched so thin wasting the School District money. Thats why there is a shortage of drivers, because of the route increase. So, i guess another point i could make is 45,000 vehicles that are on the streets, they are gig share drivers. Do you want to add more cars to that equation . And worsen traffic in an already difficult city to maneuver . I dont know, i guess thats it. Thank you. President cook that concludes Public Comment. Before i do the recommended actions, im going to do a recount of what cpac is its the child Care Planning and advisory council. To set priorities for determining state and local spending to meet existing needs. Cpac advocates to maximize local state and federal funding and develop strategies to expand and improve services. In addition, they provide recommendations on legislation and Public Policies that impact the Early Childhood education community, propose a citywide support system for the parents and providers and launches advocacy campaigns to educate and improve community awareness. Yes, reading into the record tonight our chief academic officer, nicole priestley. Good evening, commissioners and dr. Matthews. Im nicole priestley, the chief academic officer of curriculum and instruction. Tonight im presenting on the annual resolution regarding the efficiency of textbooks and instructional material as required by code 60119. A survey was mailed to all k12 schools on august 2019 requesting information on the textbook and instructional material needs for each school. It was due back to the office by september 29, 2019. By september 25, most schools had requested materials to remedy the insufficiency. By september 30, all materials were ordered. As noted in the resolution, all requested materials on the district adopted instructional material list were to be received by october 29. And im happy to report, as of today, october 29, all materials have been received by the requesting school sites. There are currently no schools that made a request via the williams Compliance Survey that have not received the requested textbooks or instruction materials. Ill read the results of the resolution. Therefore, be it resolved that the board of education of the San Francisco unified School District has determined as that the instructional material hearing held on october 29, 2019, each pupil has sufficient textbooks or instruction materials in mathematics, science, history, social science and english language arts, including the english language component. Each pupil has sufficient instructional materials on Foreign Language and health classes. That the high school have Science Laboratory equipment available related to the science classes. I guess i want to highlight, my kids were moving online. A lot of content i think its good because we used to have to carry 50 pounds of books in our backpacks, so moving things online is good.
