I wanted to put on the agenda for our next meeting an update on the letter we received from 75 women that work for our agency that are concerned that work being done is peace meal in our agency and ed has done an incredible so far but they are still urging us to look at this and i would like to take that as a separate item. And in addition to that, i know its been something thats been discussed a lot and i know we had input from mayor breed on this about blocking of bike lanes by cars mostly ubers and lyft. Im sure were working on how to fix that. I know its a really intractable problem and the companies are not helping that much. If we can get an update on what ideas we have in the pipeline to help that. It just seems like it is people are report particular more and more via the 311 app so were seeing the data so it would be nice to know what we can actually do to clear this out. Whether or not it was a fine to the previous hearings. Upcoming vision zero update to include an emphasis on both education and enforcement in terms of updating where we are with that so this is part of the enforcement side so well add that to the conversation. Ok, moving on. Item 7, directors report. Good afternoon. Madam chair, members of the board. Welcome to our new director, director hem inger. I wanted to have a few folks come up before i get into number of items i wanted to cover and first i want to ask, peter albert, who is a wellknown sfmta alumni who you may recall was here a year ago with some students and who had been working and. Welcome back. Welcome member of the board. My name is peter albert and this is the second time ive been before you on this class that we have yet to figure out a name for. I call it how to ride muni by yourself. In the idea is this is a class that is geared for students who are specifically for students who are going to be riding muni by themselves to school. As many of you know, muni is the school bus for a lot of San Francisco. What we focus are on the walk to muni and how it can be safe. We focus on riding muni itself and underring the station agents and drivers are there to help you. Theres Safety Awareness lessons we talk about. We talk about the courtesy that the students show other passengers when they see an elderly person or person with disabilities or a pregnant woman they offer up the seats. These are the things that make riding the muni the enjoyable experience but also, i do want to focus on the word enjoyment. Theres been a lot of fun in this class about what its like to ride muni. So, im only going to do the quick outline. Im going to hand it over to the students who will talk for themselves in two days, separated by a week, we first talked about the basics of the safety and the other aspects of feeling comfortable in muni. We road the 33 from the 826 site so were based out of 826valencia. So we sort of tested our legs on riding money. Muni. Then we went to the metro and there was the ghost station which is a lot of fun. Im going to stop talking because i want to hand the microphone over to the students. You will hear from gabriella and her younger bother max and from viveyanna. Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you so much for having me here today. My name is gabriella and i am 12yearsold and i attend Herbert Huber middle school. Today, i want to talk about my experience on muni. A couple weeks ago, as a group, a couple of students our moms and peter went to learn how to ride muni safely. And while my experience was amazing, not only did i get to see people using muni as part of their everyday lives to get from place to place, but with some help from peter i learned how to understand the muni map. I learned where the difference munis travel to and what the different letters and color stand for. I learned to safely ride muni and what to look for in order to stay safe. On the muni bus to ghetto to myy school. For the underground muni, i need to take the l. Knowing this, knowing the difference munis and the routes not only to i make my way safely to my destination but since San Francisco is a tour is tick place, i could help people find their way throughout San Francisco. I want to give some special thanks to peter and kathleen for guiding us through the little trip that we had. And with this i conclude my speech. Thank you. [applause] thank you for having me here today. My name is max. I will be going to sixth grade next year at San Francisco friends school. The field trip will riding muni was fun. I want to say that going on muni can be fun and it can be an opportunity to explore new places in San Francisco. One example is that we went and got up at a station called forest hill. It was an old station but it was interesting to see the architecture. Outside of the station was a little park in front of a big building. It was a little cold and misty but it was nice and quiet. It was peaceful. You could hair the birds chirping. If you felt stressed, it felt like a good place to relax. Our tutor, peter said one day he felt stressed so he took the train and ate his lunch there. I had never seen the place b muni can let you see beautiful scenery. For example, dalores park. Thank you. Thank you for having me. My name is vivey anna and the school im going to go to is called gateway middle school. My favorite part with the muni project is when i went to the subway to go to the g. O. Station. It was a station where people used to go get transported. At that moment i was completely speechless. Because when we passed through the station, i saw some actual paintings. Further on, i will use bart, subway and the bus when i need to go to middle school. I need to use buses when i get transported. I like the muni project because it taught me a lot of things about safety, being polite and how to get on and off from the buses. Thank you for having me in this muni project. Thank you very much. Ill be happy to take a question but it was a pleasure to work with the students and i want to give a shout out to paul. Paul helped us with making sure that the drivers and the other folks at muni knew what we were doing and helped us feel welcome. Do you have anything you want to contribute. Thank you so much. This is the second time youve come here with your students and i know its just a great way to, as you said, get the next generation not only riding muni but realizing how important it is to the city. You all did a really good job and im so impressed. You are so poised and arctic lit. Its just fantastic. I know your parents will be super proud of you what they watch you on sfgovtv online. Thank you all for sharing your experiences. We hope the work we do makes muni a great system for you to ride many of always feel free to reach out to us and let us know if theres anything we can do to make it easier to get to school and make the experience smooth. We are your directors so we work for you. Thank you all for sharing your insights again. Thank you, peter. Thank you all for being here. So now that weve heard from what maybe one of the future directors of muni, i want to ask our current director of muni to come forward to give you our Monthly Update on what shes doing to improve muni. Good afternoon. Im the transit direct offer sfmta and im here to give an overview on our service. In particular, i want to focus on our next 90day plan. The last 90day plan wrapped up in april. We have used that time to assess what worked, what didnt work, so well be entering our third 90day plan cycle. It continues to be a really incredible organizing principle for the Transit Division and it allows us to take big problems and divide them into bitesize pieces and as long were pushing the envelope tracking all of our work to performance metrics. With this 90 day were learning as we go and as i said this will be our third foyer into this area. My intent is to do about three plans a year with time in between to diagnose and develop new strategies, we have reduced both the number of initiatives and the number of actions. With every plan weve tried to become more strategic and have fewer more ambitious directives that we can focus our staff on. The second thing is work on getting more intuitive data metrics so one of the things that im going to propose to you is we modify the metrics to link to each initiative. What will focus on in this 90day cycle which will take us through midseptember are five key initiatives. The first is safety. Ive elevated safety to be at front of the pack. While weve had no weve been very fortunate that weve had no major fatalities or injuries, im still seeing too many incidents that are preventable. We have the ability to control. So for example, commissions in the yard or signal violations and so putting safety at front of the plan and talking with every venue that i get about what we need to do to manage the things we get more and the things we dont have control over is going to be critical to continuing to enhance our safety record. The Second Initiative is service reliability. That will capture both our continued investments and the Rapid Network and as well as some of those less frequent lower performing routes. One of the things were going to do is i think a really Interesting Partnership between our staff and our Management Center where we reach out to the operators on these infrequent routes and talk to them in details and how about performance is impacting the service. So for example, we have a field manager that has been looking at our owl routes and we have about 35 owl routes out. Were finding that we have about 30 operators sticking to the schedule when possible providing Reliable Service and weve got about five that whether going too slow or too fast or not and so by calling attention to that and working with them specifically we hope to enhance the over all performance of our owl network. Its also a continued focus on our operator shortage. As we talked about at the last meeting, i expect that we will hit a low point in terms of operator availability in july. Although we did have a class of 45 graduate at the end of may, when you combine promotions as well as what is typically a high retirement as we approach the end of the fiscal year, we will still have more people leaving the operator positions than we just added. We have another class, another large class that graduates july 22nd and then we have been able to fill to the high rank of 60 class that will start in july. We can keep on pace with our Strong Partnership with city build well be in good shape. I estimate that by move we should be back to Service Levels we saw around march of 2018 and right before we rae esau this issue fallout. With the anticipation is that we will be closer to 100 Service Delivery next spring. Subway performance, as you know, continues to be a key issue for our customers from our riders. And then keeping the focus on the lrv4 program and addressing the issues were seeing there are all initiatives. And the last initiative, which is new but something that weve actually been working on for many years is the chase Center Service plan. We are going to be in this period launching the chase center. Its representing a significant change in how we do business. Currently for giants game we treat them as a special event. We dont asked them. We ask operators to come over in overtime to work it. When you combine the Chase Center Basketball games with the concerts and with the giants games, we start to now have an event almost 75 of the year so treating that as regular scheduled service that were prepared to support night in and night out is the direction that were going and working really hard to make sure that we have a strong transit plan because transit really is going to be the best way to get to that stadium and so having very strong Transit Service in place is a huge focus across the agency in anticipation of the arena opening. As i said earlier, i am proposing that we modify the metrics. Safety would be reduced preventable collisions. For service reliability, i recommend we continue to track Service Delivery as well as how well were maintaining our head way on our rapid routes and scheduled adherence on our lower performing routes. We also got a request at a board of supervisors hearing that we track our switch backs and as you know we stopped doing kitchen backs on the tline except when we have to because of a mechanical disruption of or Something Else going on the line. And we want to apply those lessons across the system. For subway performance, at the staff lev, were tracking a lot of melt tricks. In order to not get this group bogged down, my recommendation is that we continue to look at subway travel times and i think we should report travel time for the full line. I think it will be more intuitive to customers and its feedback from the transit riders union. As well as to continue to track that subway delay metrics. As you know, we are in a rely Ability Program with the expectations that continue the next 18 months well reach 25,000 miles between break downs and it will be spectacular and that means the train is not breaking down. We have a tremendous amount of work to get to that and im going to share that later in the presentation. The second thing that im recommending is increase looking at the number of vehicles available for service. I think you didnt conclude it but its also tracking the over all l. R. V. Car count. We did increase the number of trains and service in anticipation of the fact that we have more l. R. V. 4s but because weve been having performance challenges as well as not seeing the vehicle availability that wed like on the lrv4 the Customer Experience is seeing too many onecar trains. On a typical day, weve been sending out about 10 of the service in one car trains. On days like yesterday, where we had a combination of collision repair and mechanical issues that number is as high as 20 and that is something im watching closely and i think it would be important to our over all transparency if we discussed it here as well. I wasnt sure if the best and i thought it might be helpful to the board if i shared what my kind of selfassessment is. Are we 40 ready or 70 ready with the expectation were going to be 100 ready when we get to the soft launch. The metrics is a area im looking back for feedback so if theres anything you see missing or you think its too many, im very open to that feedback. A couple more progress. Our biggest Service Impact is our inability to operate twocar trains and open the back door. Im really pleased to say, as we discussed, we have our meeting a month ago, approved design changes for both the door issue and the cup lers. We have implement all 62 cars that have arrived and by the end of this week, we should be finished removing those end stops, the dupe stopper i was telling you all about. We have enough single car demands we can put it on routes. Our commitment is to the end of june but i am cautiously optimistic that we may be up and running next week. So that is the good news. We are still seeing increased break downs in reduced vehicle availability, particularly in the month of may. We were tracking very closely to our meet distance between failure goals. In april we reached 6500. We do have a goal in this 90day plan of getting to 8,000 but in the month of may we dipped closer to 3,000. Some of the main issues that we were experiencing had to do with the breaks it wasnt a safety issue but the breaks were locked in the break position. It had to do with the hydraulic power unit that pumps the fluid to release the breaks and there were several issues identified including one issue where because the break company moved from one manufacturing plant to another an important step of really making sure that this valve was tight and well processed to be able to provide a tight seal did not happen. While were addressing the components i think we have a sense of the non issues, we went from seeing five break downs to may related to break locking up issue to 15 in may. Its an example but its a concerning one and we are starting to raise questions do some of these sub components make sense to carry into phase 2 or do we want to consider pushing siemens to sub suppliers and were yet to have an issue and its something the manufacturers but some of the sub vendors we all finding issues and so thats something that were working on and we will bring back to you but over the next 90 days its my intention that we wrapup the known issues that we have and get the vehicles back into highquality service. Can we ask questions as go . We do have the end. How many more slides . I just have this. Perfect. We did experience delays since our last meeting. Some of them had to do with operator errors like violating switches which is why we continue to have such a focus on that as a safety area. We did have this break issue that i described which caused the significant delay. On our first hot day, june 10th, we had a series of issues. Some of which were heat related and others werent. Its a good reminder that its not always one big problem that create a negative Customer Experience. Sometimes these multiple problems over the course of the day can really deteriorate conditions. We were most effective where we had increased Staffing Levels and that is something that we will be looking at standardizing as part of our hotweather response in addition to all the safety things we do to keep staff safe liken couraging people to stay hydrated, to stay in shade and to. How are we turning trains around at embarcadero looking at could we do more with the embar embaro cross over . This is the current subway configure eight. You have the embarcadero platform. We have a double cross over in front of it. That double cross over getting that up to full functionality is a big objective in our 90day plan. It currently, because were replacing a track com phone an itcomponent butwere reinstalla double crass over. Its not a very rely able crass over because it still has a lot of the old, old wiring. So two train systems ago, that is i a impacting our ability toe it day in and day tout. Part of why castro is successful because its been removed as part of twin peaks. We will remove that whiching inn july and i anticipate we will be able to use that with the same reliability that we have at as castro. That being said, its not a perfect panacea daytoday. I wanted to take through some of the reasons for that. The reason you asked us to look at this is very straight forward. As this graph shows, we are scheduling more trains in the current configuration so what that means is that customers are delayed, people get stuck between station and we have longer travel times and we end up having more trains in the subway towards the end of the day than are scheduled because were catching up from everything that happens during the peak period. We have this because the subway itself was not designed with trainturning movements in mind. Some of the most successful systems follow one of two models. Either they have multiple tracks that can turn trains around so theyre not competing with each other or like for example, in paris they have a shared trunk but theyre not trying to turn anything around in that trunk. Everything has separate turnarounds at the end of the line. We have neither of those designs. What we have is three lines that turn around in the subway which is the cause of that bottleneck and we have two lines, the n and the t that cross outside of sub way i believe our longterm solution will be trying to replicate more of the design where we turn fewer trains in the subway. Unfortunately, i dont think it will be possible for a multi track turn around but there are things we can do like putting in along with fewer trains with longer more capacity in the subway we also discussed. The Embarcadero Cross over takes about three to four minutes to use. During that time, nothing comes in and out of the subway or into the pocket. While it is quicker than the five minutes it takes us to use the pockets, because theres only one of it t. Would actually reduce the subway capacity. That being said, i think there are once you have it up and running in july i do think there are a lot of instances where it makes sense to use it. If we have two ls coming at the same time, doing a quick turn around of one of them in the Embarcadero Cross over so we can get it into service and sending the other one to the pocket will split those lines up five or six minutes. The second would be if we have any sort of break downs or any issues in the mmt which we face frequently so that is my recommendation. In the short term, we continue to turn trains as quickly as possible pushing that nascar style mentality down there. That we use the Embarcadero Cross over and the Harrison Cross over more strategically as a way to space out trains and to reduce bunching and that we identify some Service Strategies that will reduce the congestion but in the medium term, exploring options where we have more pocket tracks, a more efficient train control system and we actually ultimately replace the train control system, i think is the best medium term. Later on today you will hear the 2050 corridor planning and thats a longterm to put some of these big ideas on the table and look at do we have the subway were going to need for 50 years from now or 30 years from now but i think within the next three to five years, doing these short and medium term strategies that we can significantly enhance the Customer Experience in the subway. Reducing break downs, increasing capacity and continuing to Push Communications on all fronts. Can you just outline what ballpark range you mean for short term, medium term and longterm . Short term are things that i think we can do as part of our 90day planning up until a year out in the example of Service Changes targeting reducing congestion. The medium term would be three to five year period and the longer term is a 10year plus timeline. That is all i have to cover today. You covered it a lot. Hopefully you didnt forget your question. I wrote it down just in case. Its two questions, on the siemens cars who is paying for the rework thats being done . In most instances its siemens for the couplers and the doors. As we get into issues like the flat wheels, which is not, the vehicle is performing as designed but not working for our system because we have the braid is and you have to use the emergency button and they create flat wheels when you use the emergency button that cost will be born bit agency. Where weve had these design defects like the doors, its all covered under warranty. Is the warranty starting . Yes. I believe these changes in many instances reset the warranty period. Howling does it last . I believe its five years. The other question was on the issue you just raised and maybe ive got a broader good evening mind than this specific idea you are advancing which is using an existing cross over that you have. Is the mic on . My memory is the bart program, which is underway for the trance bay 2 could get them 20 , 30 more capacity in the peak. Is that something that we could try to achieve with the muni metro as well . Those kinds of numbers . I dont want to commit to a specific number but yes, i absolutely believe that in order to get a significant increase in capacity we need a new train control system. Building an expectations around increased capacity will be part of the performance speck of the procurement. Look, maybe this is something that you and your team have already done but what strikes me, im a resident of the Richmond District and im just happy as a clam with the rapids, right. Apparently we have a lot of physical and other constraints to try to replicate that on the other side of the park with the rail system. Have you put together any kind of a capital plan about what that would cost to really buff out that system to build more cross overs passing tracks, whatever it might be . No. It seems to me, madam chair, that would be a valuable thing to pursue. Like a lot of rail systems, we focus attention with the muni on lets extend out to here that doesnt have service or lets go there when in fact weve got this huge sunk cost of an asset and reinvestigating in that asset obviously is what were doing with the new cars. If you are going to do a new train control system. There are all of these other physical constraints if we dont break through them were going to get the cars downtown faster than theyll all slow down. I wonder if its worth pursuing. Its not a small piece of work. Its a significant undertaking. I think that is a great idea. We have been very focused on every corridor we do. We look for opportunities to enhance flexibility. One of the items on your consent calender will be activating a cross over at westportal that was built into the twin peaks construction project. When we build the h under the ground project as it is track, we will reattorney the restore t hasnt been useable for many, many years. As we approach the train control system, our focus is on not just having the train control system within the subway, but also having a partially controlled system on the surface because one of the biggest disadvantages of our subway today is that it is surprised when the trains show up. It cant be doing anything in advance of getting into the subway to help space out our problems except what humans can do through human intervention. A more integrated system where we have partial train control as appropriate on the surface through things like signal control and better visualizations of our system, communicating with the subway. Well start to get to that 20 enhanced capacity that you are talking about. I would agree that making sure that we focus on maximizing the flexibility of the system that we have so that we can really truly be reliable would be a fantastic investment in our service. Good report and i just want to echo something, i think weve all been slightly miss pronouncing your name because its a hard gi. My son miss pronounces our name so dont worry. Thats hemmingger. The idea of doing something on the other side of the park and the idea that so many of us are really pleased with the changes in the buses and the rapid lines because im a happy rapid rider. Weve done some really good improvements there and we have a quick build for vision zero and bike and pedestrian safety. Is it time to look at a quick build for transit improvements like weve weve done at westportal and actually we legislated traffic changes. I think that a quick build for problems spots and hotspots were seeing could be something that would help a lot and i would like to nominate them into the park which for the past three or four weekends ive got caught on three different lines. Ive gotten caught on the 7 and also on the 44 inform what is a less less than half mile stretch along ninth and into the park and our poor 44 just gets stuck there so much so it seems like working with park and recs theres something we can do to speed up the 44, speed up the 7 crossing ninth and the n trying to get down there. And while were on the m, are we still pursuing being able to run three car or did that prove too impossible . It seems like we have the political will and the momentum to really make some big changes and i know it means that we have to have all our lrvs is something were working towards . It is. I think that the lowhanging foughfruit for threecar trainsn the subway. Its something im anxious to get going relatively quickly. We certainly have the Train Technology to run throwcar trains. There are some design constraints and trade offs that i think would have to be vetted with the community extensively before we pursue it. I think its something that weve been hearing on the transit riders take when we were all on the steps of city hall and we heard that again that people who came in by bus were very pleased. Everything went really well but people who came in in the street cars and underground ran into many more problems and it seems like they do kind of start at the surface and the threecar trains could really help. Two more, im sorry, its been a while since ive had the opportunity to ask you questions. Is there an issue that needs to be resolved with the next muni data . Im seeing and hearing from people about incorrect predictions and im just wondering if its something i i know the data we send to the apps is all the same so is it an app problem or something going on with our data . Yes, so, we provided a few updates over the years. The system that powers the next muni data is problem past the end of its useful life. Its old technology. Its like clipper. We were among the first to be able to provide that kind of data but now its very cold old technology. So we have issued our request for proposals for the replacement system and weve gotten a number of proposals and we will hopefully soon bring to you contracts for the next Generation System and in the meantime, were doing what we can within the limits of the existing technology to keep it accurate. Its the least accurate terminals so when you are at the terminal of any line, its using the schedule as opposed to a prediction algorithm. Most of the time they have limits in terms of accuracy. We did have some issues a number of months ago and weve been able to work with the vendor to correct them and were doing what we can within the confines of the existing technology to make it workable. Its not an app problem. Its the source data and the algorithm used. Thats the issue and the system we will bring you a contract soon to replace. Thank you. And thank you. I know we have talked about it before. Thank you for remining us theres help on the way the last one i have is its outside the purview of this board because we dont get involved in h. R. Problems. We are a policy board but i know the training department, who have been doing a great job and have really large classes coming through and are working hard these days, has a situation with people who have been working on temporary status and if we can just make sure we do what we can to make sure those people in the temporary status who are not driving but are still considered operators are not disadvantaged in the permanent filing of those jobs and again i know h. R. Is outside of our purchase vow butt seems like the right thing to do to. H. R. Is not out of our ser havpurview but the city Service Rules coupled with the unions acceptance of how far to a Civil Service list we go are the constraints within which we have to operate. We cant change the civil Service Rules. We are working with the union so those on a Civil Service list can be reach able. Its something and theres flex able and it is the approximate union for those who arent on the Civil Service we cannot appointment and position and get them its something with the effected employees on. Any other comments from directors . I have a few things. One is i wanted to say i was glad to hear you are working on the owl service. I notice on the mission line the 14 and the 49 late into the evening seems to be running with great regular tee so i wanted to thank the staff for making sure that happens because it is a very heavily utilized line late in the evening. You talked about the shortage that were going to get to that point in the summer to have a lot less drivers because of retirement even though we have new people coming on board. What are we doing to prepare to make sure our key routes are staffed up and that we have a back up plan to ensure that our service doesnt deline, especially on our heavily traveled routes. I do want to clarify that i think its going to get worse than it is today and not worse. The way weve been managing is trying to make sure we dont have any gaps on any lines and making sure that our transportation Management Center has all the information they immediate about where we have holes so they can make service adjustments, we prioritize our low frequently routes because missing one route can be dramatic and mean you are waiting 40 minutes and if we do have any one line that is experiencing a unusual lehigh outage we are using our Digital Communications with customers. I dont anticipate that july is going to feel significantly different than it does in june but its just were not going to really start back up on that positive trajectory until we have the july 22nd class graduate. The issues with sub supplier parts. Are we able to check with other agencies and kind of get just some information around some maybe whether or not theyre doing an assessment since we are in a change for the next iteration. Absolutely. As part of work that weve been doing also the independent reviewer that we brought on has been helping us with that work. Thats how we were able to identify this issue and some of the other cars are not experiencing this problem so we pinpointed it from the shifting from one plant to the other. There are other issues that we are seeing cooling, a partner and and so yes were trying to do what we can to learn from cities around us and then incorporate that feedback into phase 2. Going back to our other question, i assume theres supplier parts dont work, we pay for the fixes or changes . No. So siemens covers that as well. Great. Simons is responsible for their sub suppliers. Theyve been working closely to make sure that theyre on sight and responsive. In some cases they dont have the same proximity like siemens does where theyre just in sacramento and theyve given us a blank check in terms of staffing that we need to address these problems problems. And you mentioned metrics. If there are no other comments from the rest of the board, i guess should we open up to Public Comment now . I still have ill try to be quick. Just a few other things i wanted to update you on. Since some of you are talking about the other side of the park, which some people call the sunset district, i did want to let you know. One of the reasons when you saw that chart of the subway where the schedule doesnt work, it isnt because its not right on paper but because the trains dont a arrive at the portals and one of the reasons is because the way they operate in mixed traffic out on it too steps and we did do some early implementation we are about to start the physical construction. So i want to let you know well be starting in july. Wore doing it from the zoo into sun sisunset and from sunset ino westportal. As the over all project duration is about three years. There is some utility work that will be done before we do all of the state of good repair and the enhancement and safety work. We will have sub substitutions in spring of 2020 starting first again just for the very out are part of the lines so well be shoveling folks around the and portal and so just remind you that theres Traffic Signals and crossing and francois and of course the safety boarding islands and such as weve done on the Rapid Bus Network will be doing bringing those kind of benefits to the rail network. There are also in working with the community, and public works weve developed a package of street scape enhancements that are meant to highlight the neighborhood charter and that is the vibrancy of the Commercial Area to make it just a nicer place for people to be in so working very closely with the merchants and others in the community on that work. We are going to have a pre construction open house in midjuly. We have refreshing the safety zones which themselves in in earlier implementation and were in the process coordinating with a lot of different other Construction Projects in the corridor and with other stakeholders just to make sure that folks know what is happening. One of our first quick builds out of the gate and you will hear about more of those as soon as. Here is one that will be a new interest to our directors, as youve heard by now, after a long closure, the Sales Force Transit Center has been cleared to reopen bit executive director of the m. T. C. s recommendation to the board which accepted that recommendation last week. So it will be reopening in a couple weeks on july 1st. For us, we have 38,000 riders everyday that use that transit hard so well work hard to move it back into the Transit Center and it will be a phased opening. It will be the rooftop garden and the foot trucks down below will be back and starting in midjuly. The bus plaza which is down on the ground floor between free mont will reopen and thats where the 5, 7, and the 38 were operating so well move them back from the tem temporary transbay terminal and for those transferring between our services and those that will remain at the transbay terminal for a while, ac transit, i just want to remind folks to leave a little extra time. Then the later phase, which will be midaugust, will be when the bus deck opens and that is where the 25 Treasure Island as well as all of the trance bay service, the a. C. Transit as well as the others west cat greyhound, golde golden gate trt operate up above and they have the easy on and off direct access to the bay bridge. The real benefit of the Transit Center particularly for the trance bay riders including our 25 Treasure Island riders will be realized and again, in midaugust. Well be putting out a lot of information as we did at the start. We want to make sure Everybody Knows where the buses will be moving to and when. Moving onto the exciting topic of e scooters, as youve also heard, scoot informed the sfmat is being acquired by bird. We contended to the transfer of the shares Scooter Pilot permit from scoot to bird in writing on july 11th. Its staying technically its staying with scoot. Scoot is becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of bird so scoot still owns the permit but we required in our permit conditions they notify us and seek sou our approval of any suh ownership changes. We did make the approval contingent on the meeting the permit conditions of course and importantly maintaining the high standards for labor harmony and compensation levels and we also have the c. E. O. S of bird and scoot come and sit with us and explain what their approach was and got insurance the staffing and local management will remain for the short term.
