Hollywood's infamous Chateau Marmont
If hell had a VIP area, then it might look a little like Hollywood's Chateau Marmont. The glitzy, 63-room establishment on Sunset Boulevard has seen more than its fair share of Tinseltown's great and good come unstuck. Its tagline "Always a safe haven, always open" and impish faun mascot wink to its hedonistic reputation. It's a glimpse of old Hollywood, before it got all straight-laced and sober.
At least, it was. Now some very un-glamorous accusations are tarnishing the establishment's reputation. In 2017, the New York Times reported allegations against its owner Andre Balazs and alleged that its management had allowed a toxic culture of racism and sexual harassment to be perpetrated. (Balazs has denied this.)
