Zacary Jackson, 36, of Parkhurst Road, appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
He admitted assault by beating of an emergency worker.
The court heard from prosecutor, Ann Smout, how on April 11, Jackson had spat at his victim — a nurse working at Sevenacres.
Mrs Smout said the nurse had known him for quite a few years, and he had asked her why visitors were not being allowed in.
When the victim told him it was because of the lockdown, he spat directly at her and his spittle landed on her cheek.
Mrs Smout said Jackson walked off and the victim was left distressed and in tears.
