Port Fairy SES Unit left without a home, as current base is condemned
Port Fairy’s SES unit has been left homeless, after their Sackville Street base was found to be an unacceptable safety risk.
The Unit was informed on Friday that they would no longer be able to operate out of the base, due to a risk of electrocution and mould embedded in the building’s frame.
Unit Controller Stephen McDowell, said they were now scrambling to find a temporary home for their vehicles and equipment.
"At this stage we basically don't have a home" he said.
