Requirements:
A minimum of a relevant B degree, postgraduate qualification would be advantageousFive (5) to six (6) years’ relevant experience. Key performance areas:
Conduct analysis, high-level research and provide support on a range of strategic policy matters impacting upon the City of Cape TownManage and undertake research and analyse informationProvide policy and strategy advice to the Executive Mayor, MAYCO, the Executive Management Team, senior officials , the Executive Director: Future Planning and Resilience; and the Director: Strategy and PolicySupport the functioning of the City’s Policy Process by engaging multiple internal and external stakeholders, as well as facilitate the development of policy instruments through the policy pipelineDevelop policy, by-law, and strategy proposals, and draft policies, by-laws and strategies in collaboration with relevant partiesSupport the drafting of strategy implementation plans and bespoke strategy implementation projects, when requiredWork with sister departments to progress the strategy and policy regime within the City of Cape TownSupport policy learning within line departments to extend the organisational understanding of the City’s policy and strategy regimeSupport the City’s advocacy programme by applying sector specific knowledge, contributing toward the functioning of the advocacy tracker, and participating in internal advocacy discussions relevant to the portfolioHandle routine administration enquiries related to the strategies and policies of Council, as well as policies, Bills and Acts of other governmental spheresApply high-level concepts and theoretical knowledge and analysis in a research / writing contextCommunicating professional knowledge, results of research, investigations, and analyses.Please apply online at www.capetown.gov.za/careers (external applicants) or via the SAP Portal (internal applicants) unless otherwise stated.
